Introducing Friends to SE Arizona

We have been blessed this winter with several different friends staying at or near the campground. This gave us good reason to revisit some of our favorite places here in SE Arizona. As many of us are guilty of,  a lot of Arizonans have have not ventured from one side of the state to the other.

Our friends from Peoria, AZ were here for almost 2 weeks and had never been to this side of the state, sooooo we put together an itinerary of “points of interest” to show them just what this part of the state is all about. Needless to say, we were busy. And of course, we shared plenty of good talk and laughs, food and wine. Doesn’t get much better than that.

As we entered February we revisited the White Water Draw….it was amazing, as always, with thousands and thousands of sandhill cranes. Patagonia State Park was another place we wanted to show them, as they like to kayak, and his would accommodate them. Stopped in the town of Patagonia, had lunch and browsed around town.

After having a couple days reprieve we drove to the Coronado

National Forest and finally got to the Cochise Stronghold which was the last battle for Cochise. Such a beautiful area, but the trails were rocky and windy so we limited out time there. While still in the area we drove to the Chirachuca National Monument to see the balance rocks. How these rocks stay in place is beyond me. But it is amazing.

Arizona was much cooler this winter so there were some things we didn’t get around to. But that’s ok,  because there is always another time.

I’m proud to say I have finally brought my blog up to date. Boy, this was a huge undertaking, especially when this gals memory “ain’t what it used to be”. Thank goodness I have a journal and photos to refer to.

I hope everyone has remained healthy and happy.  Remember, to get outdoors and breathe in all the fresh air you can. Take in lots of sunshine, even if it’s snowy and cold outdoors. And while you are out there, look up (and down), it’s amazing out there.
